Macon Arts Alliance presents “2016 Holiday Gift Shop” exhibit for November

Macon Arts Alliance invites you to #ShopLocal this season at the “2016 Holiday Gift Shop.” Discover unique and “art-ful” finds to give during this special time of the year. Opening night debuts on First Friday, November 4 with a reception from 5-8 p.m. Delight in the art of glassblowing with a live demonstration by Kelly Robertson. The gift shop will be on display until the end of December. Admission is always free and open to the public.

The 2016 Holiday Gift Shop is an amazing opportunity to experience the masterful work of many Georgia artists. “Art provides for such a special form of giving, it elicits such excitement both for the giver and receiver,” proclaims Janet Williams, Curator at Macon Arts Alliance. “Something made by hand has a story to tell, a distinct personality if you will; it’s that reason, among many, why I encourage people to take a chance and give art for the holidays.”

Robertson of Lawrenceville, Georgia will be making glass blown works of art on site at First Friday. Those who visit The Gallery can personally design their own custom creations and have them blown right before their eyes.

In addition to glass blowing, the exhibit will feature ornaments, cards, scarves, turned wood pens, pottery, paintings, photography, furniture, jewelry, and more. “The concept of a

kaleidoscope exhibit has become a tradition at The Gallery during the holiday season. Shopping local during the holidays is a way to promote the thriving Georgia arts scene,” explains Jan Beeland, Executive Director of Macon Arts Alliance.

New to The Gallery this year, a holiday gift registry will now be available! Patrons will be able to create a personalized wish list, have it kept on file, and in addition have it shared with whomever they choose. As always, complimentary gift wrapping is available!
