Barbara Stanton Domingos, New Work September 2018

Join Macon Arts Alliance for an Opening Reception to celebrate the new exhibition featuring new assemblage works by Barbara Stanton Domingos. Light refreshments will be served. The reception, sponsored by Spa Medical, Vein Specialists of the South and Rosenberg Financial is free and open to the public.

Barbara Stanton Domingos Artist Statement

Barbara was born in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Macon at age nine. Domingos grew up here and attended Alexander IV School and graduated from A. L. Miller Senior High School.

Domingos attended Mercer University, majoring in Mathematics and French, and choosing arts classes as electives. When Barbara and her husband, Kirk, moved to New Orleans in 1985, the mathematician decided to take art lessons at the prestigious New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts.

Because of one extraordinary teacher, Allison Stewart, Barbara fell in love with abstract art. While in New Orleans, she continued her lessons and took took classes the Penland School in North Carolina.

After moving to Alexandria, LA in 2002, Barbara joined a group of artists who painted regularly at River Oaks Art Academy, participating in group shows and solo shows. Barbara was also commissioned to create a series of paintings.

Barbra works currently creates work in her home studio.
