Macon Artist Residency: Film

Macon Arts Alliance is now accepting applications for an Artist in Residence in the discipline of Filmmaking for March 2020 – August 2020.


The chosen Filmmaker will live at Macon Arts Alliance’s furnished house in the East Macon Mill Hill Village (217 Schell Avenue, Macon GA 31217) between March and August of 2020. During the residency the filmmaker will work in collaboration with the Macon Film Festival to create a community produced short film. The artist in residence will serve in a leadership position within the crew while also mentoring crew members through the pre-production, production and post-production of the film. The additional crew will be comprised of local filmmakers and creatives with semi-professional to introductory level experience. The final film will be a 10 – 15 minute narrative short that will premiere at the 2020 Macon Film Festival in August and will also be submitted to regional film festivals.

In addition, the chosen filmmaker will plan and lead three introductory level filmmaker workshops for the community at the Mill Hill Community Arts Center.


Expense-free furnished housing at our Mill Hill Village House including utilities and internet.
A $250.00 per week stipend
Use of software and equipment at the Mill Hill Tech Toolshed including iMac Pro Computer with Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, Freefly Movi Pro, large format printer and more.
Equipment rental allowance


Production of a narrative short film in collaboration with the Macon Film Festival to be screened at the August 2020 Macon Film Festival
Three Filmmaking community workshops
At least three nights/days a week occupancy of Mill Hill House between March 1st, 2020 and August 31, 2020
Documentation of the process in either writing or film or both
